Marketing Websites UK

Peter Yexley focuses on marketing and promoting websites in Britain.

Before I begin to bang the drum about marketing and promoting websites, I want to ask you to do just one small thing and it will take a few seconds., Because the world is full of internet marketing experts and self proclaimed website gurus, you need to know which internet marketing experts you can believe and who you should avoid. There is a simple trick, use a search engine like Yahoo and Google, type in your internet marketing experts name - mine is Peter Yexley, click on Yahoo or Google now and you'll find out a lot about me - I am a genuine internet marketing expert. If an internet marketing expert cannot promote himself then what chance have you got? - Before you shout about searching my actual name - the idea is to see where and how I am related to internet marketing, it is not to show you where I rank in the big search engines .... but I will later!

Do Not Try To Trick Search Engines !

Apart from self proclaimed internet gurus and marketing experts, there are also those who will try to trick and cheat search engines. Stay clear and don't try it yourself. With search engines, ethical promotions are your best campaign.

Avoid search engine submission software - they don't work, and here's why; image you own Yahoo, your revenue does not come from website submissions or pay per clicks etc it is generated from advertisers who own the banner links - they pay a lot of money on the basis of 'hits' to your site.. Yahoo is is one of the biggest and most popular - it achieves billions of 'clicks'. Yahoo can prove how popular it is and millions upon millions PER DAY submit their websites to yahoo. Each one of those submissions are carried out by a human not a software gadget, thus each one is a potential customer to the businesses that own the banner links. Why on earth - or indeed in why in Cyberspace would Yahoo allow software to submit a website and lose millions of British Pounds, Euros and Dollars for the pleasure, they don't like search engine submissions wizards, neither do the banner link owners.

Alta Vista have taken an excellent stance by providing a random graphic which displays an alphanumeric code which we humans have to copy and rewrite in a form. It proves we are human and not search engines submission wizards. So if you have spent your marketing money on one of these systems - sorry!

I have found - during SIX YEARS of marketing and promoting websites that each of the major search engines have different personalities, they have created an individual ethos and operate under their own rules and regulations. Equally they change and alter their systems to keep internet marketing experts on their toes and remove those who try to cheat them.

Very recently there was a fad for 'Gateway Pages', it worked to a degree but not a runaway success. Basically the idea was to duplicate your homepage in a different folder or domain and hope that the search engines treat it as a different website thus multiplying your chances of better search engine rankings. Some search engines take offence that you are trying to trick them and won't list you. There is a far better resource that I invented which will work - click here.

I have spent a lot of time studying keywords and metatags. I am still astounded by the many myths and misrepresented ploys. I have said previously, the big search engines work differently, they have varying criteria. Whilst one takes your keywords from your submission, another will look at your metatags .... and another will ignore them totally and look at your body copy.

Webmasters get caught up in 'singular keyword mode'. In the old days, way back in the last century in fact (1999), we could type in a single keyword and find what we are looking for - not anymore. Phrases are the norm now because we need to eliminate so much rubbish.

.I am (as I keep boasting) an internet marketing expert - I know through audited statistics that people use the phrase 'promoting and marketing websites' more than any other phrase when searching for someone who promotes and markets websites. The second most popular search phrase in the same search contains 'UK' in the phrase. It is very logical, if you searched 'promotions' or 'promoting' you are likely to get incentives companies. If you searched 'marketing' you are likely to get a million different variations of sales oriented websites. Eliminate the rubbish by simply linking the three major elements; ' promoting & marketing websites ' - Let's try Google, we have two options here, google.com and google.co.uk - the UK is more specific to us but if we use the worldwide version, add UK to eliminate the non UK sites..

So, I've type ' promoting & marketing, websites' in www.google.co.uk. Click on the link to see the results. I've managed to get myself to Number One. If we do the same with Ask Jeeves I'm Number One again. Click the link to see the results. www.altavista.com brings me at Number One. www.yahoo.co.uk - I'm Number One again here. So I am number one in the top search engines (because I know what I'm doing - I am an internet marketing expert !!) Don't forget Google - Yahoo - MSN (Microsoft) - Virgin - etc !

Okay, I am in an enviable position and many will now try to type in other keywords in the hope that I don't come up number one - but we can all do that because it is impossible to get the best results using every possible word - the skill is to make the most out of the common search phrases. I promote and market websites, if you use any of the top search engines and type in promoting and marketing websites, you will get me - but if I'm not number one this morning, I may be this afternoon because the internet is fluid and constantly changes.

So keywords are important but we still need to understand the usage by those that search. If you are looking for a solicitor in Hertfordshire, the logical phrase would be 'Solicitors in Hertfordshire' - so let's try that in www.google.co.uk - click for the results. Number One is in fact one I have promoted. We can follow this exersize by looking for 'stress management in Hertfordshire' using www.google.co.uk. My promotional skills have brought this to Number One too. Another good example is 'Antiques in Hertfordshire' using www.google.co.uk, this time two sites I have promoted come in at Number One and Number Two.

I am acutely aware of skeptics and cynics ... and those who will constantly scour for flaws. So I have a few more which I can show here and I can also bore you all to tears by showing you more and more but you'll be please to know that I've restricted my flag waving.

If after this much evidence, you are not convinced - then you never will be ! If you wish to become part of my growing successful portfolio, please feel free to call me on 01707 646457- there's no hard sell - I promise.
